Assembly Bill AB 2534
Assembly Bill No. 2534, effective January 1, 2025, ammends Califonia Education Code Asection 44939.5 mandates that applicants for certificated positions provide a comprehensive list of all prior employement with Local Education Agencies (LEA), including school districts, county offices of education, charter schools and state special schools. Prospective employers are then required to inquire with each listed LEA about any credible complaints, substantiated investigations, or disiciplinary actions related to egregious misconduct, as defined in Education Code Sections 44932.
